Milton Keynes, 19 April, 2013 – Over 40 Prudential RideLondon competitors turned out yesterday, as Griffin Mill ŠKODA teamed up with professional cycling teams to host a training ride in Pontypridd, ahead of the prestigious summer festival.
Griffin Mill ŠKODA invited Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 registered cyclists from across South Wales to take part in a training ride on Wednesday 17 April, which began at the Tonteg Road retailer. Professional cyclists from Rapha Condor JLT and Matrix Fitness Academy led the ride out in the morning, followed by lunch back on site.
Riders covered 37 miles of Pontypridd roads, including the formidable Bwlch climb. The riders were split into four groups and supported by professional cyclists Ed Clancy and James McCallum from Rapha Condor JLT, and Helen Wyman from Matrix Fitness Academy.
Anthony Griffin, Managing Director of Griffin Mill ŠKODA added: “The day was a great success. It was a pleasure to be able to extend our first class service to both our customers and local cycling fanatics who are taking part in Prudential RideLondon with a professional training ride.”
Emily Burns, Communications Manager for ŠKODA UK commented: “The training ride has proved to be a great event and thankfully, the rain held off! The cyclists had the opportunity to hone their skills ahead of the tasking 100 mile course they’ll face in August, with the help of our pro team partners.
“Our cars are loved by cyclists across the UK - the flagship Superb Estate is the car of choice for pro teams such as Rapha Condor JLT; thanks to both the impressive load capacity and our fantastic range of cycling accessories.”
