Founded in 1895 by Vaclav Lauren and Vaclav Klement, Škoda is one of the world’s oldest car manufacturers, and proudly celebrates over 100 years of production.
Based in Mlada Boleslav in the Czech Republic, Skoda is a five model brand - made up of the award-winning Fabia, Octavia, Roomster, Superb and Yeti.
Škoda has a deserved reputation for value-for-money products built to the highest standards, engineering innovation, championship-winning motorsport programmes at all levels and outstanding customer service.Škoda is also an environmentally-aware brand, and has recently expanded its GreenLine range to four models – all of which offer low CO2 emissions and reduced running costs for owners.
2011 marks the 20th anniversary of Skoda’s association with the Volkswagen Group. In two short decades Skoda has changed from a state-owned Eastern European manufacturer selling two products, to a global automotive player with an award-winning model line up and state-of-the-art production facilities across the world.
It has also been a period of outstanding business success. In 2010, new car sales for the year stood at more than 762,000 units, breaking through the three quarter-million barrier for the first time. Revenue rose by 22.4 per cent to €8.692 billion, while operating pro?t was more than doubled to €447 million.In the UK, total registrations for last year reached a new annual high of more than 41,000 cars, representing a 10.5 per cent increase on 2009 and a 2 per cent market share – another milestone in the continued success for the Czech brand.2011 sees Skoda enter a new era in its development.
Following record sales in 2010, when 762,000 cars found homes around the world, the brand has gained a bold new look. An ambitous strategy for growth will see Skoda diversify its model range and double sales volumes by 2018. As part of this brand expansion, Skoda will launch a new model every 12 months starting from next year
